A wonderful day in Helsinki

We went to Helsinki yesterday to visit the temple, it was great. This was our first time in 2011! The weather was great and we had a nice time.

After the temple we had a lot of time until our boat left. We usually get a day cruise on the Viking express, it leaves Tallinn at 8 and then returns at 21:30. We got the tickets on sale so that is what we had to work with. The green boat is a Tallink boat, they never go on sale.

With our spare time we decided to see some of the sites in Helsinki. We went to the rock church, but it was closed. We still walked around on top though.

This is the Sebelius Monument, the most famous monument in Finland. It was pretty neat. I got the ideas about the church and monument from my family, when they were here for the wedding they took a tour of Helsinki and saw all the main tourist attractions.

Spring!

Life is good in Estonia. The snow is almost all gone, and the weather is beautiful. School is interesting and the next few months will be filled with lots of travel! The first stop will be later this month at the Helsinki Temple, which is actually in Espoo. We will probably do something fun in Helsinki that night as well. Then in June we are going to Turkey, I am going to present a paper at a conference. Who knew I would be going back so soon? I was just there in 2009. Istanbul is a great city and it will be a lot of fun. We also can't wait to go back home in July!

Where to start? from the beginning

So my computer crashed, and I have a new computer, I got a fairly cheap model and I was shocked to see how beautiful and wonderful it is. That means that I can now blog more! I will try to spend a little time catching up.

Christmas was wonderful. We went to T├Árva and had a wonderful Estonian Christmas dinner, it was my first real Estonian Christmas. Thanks to Maris' wonderful family for the wonderful Christmas! We had blood sausage, sauerkraut, and a nice pork roast. Above is the Christmas tree we had in our apartment, isn't it cute?

Maris had a birthday in January! She made herself a wonderful cake, and we found some cold cerial on sale at Stockmans! We also went swimming at kalevi Spas, it was a great birthday. She is now 24!

Elvis came to visit us during his spring break! We had a lot of fun, 5 D movie theater, normal movie theater and seeing some other fun places. Elvis had not been to Tallinn for a long time. We hope he comes to visit again soon!

We also had our first year anniversary on March 20th! It went by fast, it has been the best year of my life. Maris is a wonderful wife and I am glad that I can be with her for ever and ever!
